General Information

Why the little tag?
Each piece shipped will have a small tag pinned to the selvage with the color name and a number indicating the base wool *. This information will be important if you need to order additional wool in the future. My stock changes constantly according to the availability of the wools. However, if there is something you really like, or need for a particular project, I would suggest that you order it all at one time to ensure color consistency as well as availability. Sometimes I can order a specific fabric, but there are times when my supplier is simply sold out.

* Pin the tag to a strip of wool for future reference.
Color and your monitor
We have attempted to represent the colors accurately. However, each computer monitor displays the wool differently. Unfortunately, pictures do not show the richness of the colors nor the "hand" of the wool.
Matching a color
As with all hand-dyed wool, the color will vary from dye lot to dye lot for a variety of reasons.
  • The raw dyes are sometimes not exact from my suppliers.
  • I use well water and the mineral content changes from day to day.
  • the base wools may differ slightly (depending on the process/dyes the mill uses) from shipment to shipment.

For the reasons listed above, it is suggested that you order all the wool you may need for a particular project at one time. This is the only way we can achieve color consistency. As you know, for primitive rug hooking and penny rug purposes, the variations is color enhances the rug (or piece) rather than detract from it.
